Aldine I.S.D.
A seven-member Board of Trustees serves as the legal agent of the State of
Texas in carrying out the will of the citizens of the Aldine Independent School
District in the matters of public education. The school board is the
policy-making body for the school district. The AISD Board of Education was one
of 24 school boards across the nation, and the only one in Texas, to receive the
coveted Magna Award in 1999 from the American School Board Journal. In 1998, the
Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) named the AISD Board of
Education Outstanding School Board of Texas. Additionally, the AISD Board
received the 2013 Region 4 Outstanding School Board Award, which the Board also
received in 1998.
Zoe Learning Academy, Inc.
Curriculum Zoë Learning Academy implemented the Texas Essential Knowledge and
Skills curriculum mandated by Texas Education Agency. We foster small learning
communities with individualized instruction suited to meet the needs of all
students. Low student Ratios to ensure all students are given equal access to
the total learning environment and the opportunity to work up to their highest
potential. Most special need students will be able to function as mainstream in
a low ration system. Those students who qualify for special education will have
an Individualized Evaluation Plan as well. Standardized test scores and spectrum
tests bear out the relationship of lower ratios to dramatically improve academic
performance. Small classes ensure that individual learning styles will be
revealed and acknowledged. Individualized Evaluation Plans and Student
Portfolios are commonplace and are reflective of the versatility of the learning
environment as well as the commitment to achieving the standards.
Tekoa Academy of Accelerated
Dr. Richardson was embraced and supported by the Port Arthur community to open
the charter school. Dr. Richardson's spiritual advisor, Pastor Marvin E. Moore
of Harvest Time Bible Church (Port Arthur, TX) donated his church to use as the
first educational building. Today, that building stands as the Central
Administration Building.
Tekoa Charter School, Inc. dba, Tekoa Academy of Accelerated Studies became a
certified open enrollment public charter school on May 1, 1999. The Texas
Education Agency deemed the approval of the school to give parents and students
in the South County Community in Southeast Texas an opportunity to have a choice
in public education.
The Academy opened August 16, 1999 with grades K - 6th.
In 2001, the Texas Education Agency approved the Academy to expand grade levels
to Pre-K 3 and 4 year olds through the 12th grade. In 2003, the Academy received
status of Academically Accepted and was approved a ten-year recertification. In
2009, the Academy received status of Recognized.
Tekoa Academy has expanded to the city of Orange, TX with grade levels Pre-K 3
and 4 year olds through the 5th grade. Planning is underway for the expansion
into Houston, TX.
Tekoa Academy of Accelerated Studies STEM School will graduate its 4th class of
high school seniors in June 2013.
